Hi! My name is Zoe Karnisky and I am the President of SWE this year. I am currently a senior in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis in power and energy. I am really excited to see the amazing things SWE is going to accomplish this year and hope I can create a welcoming and uplifting space for SWE members as president. Throughout my time at Mines, SWE has supported me professionally and socially through career building to making new friends to being the leader I never knew I could be. I am excited to see how I can expand this to support more women at Mines and help others to be strong leaders as well. Outside of SWE, I am an officer for Mines Green Team, I play the viola in the Mines orchestra, and I really can’t keep a hobby, but currently I am into skateboarding. Feel free to come say hi if you ever see me around, I am always happy to meet new people!

My name is Nina Botvin, and I am the VP of Finance this year. I’m a senior majoring in Geological Engineering, following the mineral exploration track. I am also working towards my masters in Geological Engineering. At Mines, I am also a member of the Mines Undergraduate Research Fellowship. I’m excited to increase my impact on SWE and continue to make meaningful connections through this organization!

Hello! My name is Jessica, and I am a senior in Mechanical Engineering with a focus in Aerospace Engineering. This year, as I did last year, I am serving as the Vice President of Outreach. I am so excited to be returning to this position because 1), I am very passionate about encouraging girls in STEM, and 2), I loved getting to support and mentor the Outreach directors last year and I know it will be just as fun this year. Outside of SWE, I am also involved in AIAA (American Institute of Aeronautics and Aeronautics) as Communications Chair, WOAA (Women of Aeronautics and Astronautics), Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society, oSTEM (Out in STEM) and the Mining Engineer Marching and Concert Band (bass drum, flute, and concert percussion).

Outside of SWE, I am a part of Mines Betsy’s Friends Peer Education program and a member of Alpha Phi Sorority . Outside of classes, I love snowboarding, reading, watching movies, and watching baseball (go Rockies). This year I am very excited to be the VP of Communications and getting to help make SWE more available to the amazing women at Mines and girls that are interested in STEM!

My hobbies include hanging out with friends, exploring new places, and video games. I am involved with the following clubs: Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers and Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers. I am really excited to be serving in a position with SWE this year! I am looking forward to getting to know all the members of SWE and helping to create a stronger community.
