Mary Nimey is a senior in Mining Engineering. She is excited to help bring STEM to young girls this year!

Parent Information

  • Location: Ben H. Parker Student Center Ballrooms (Ben H Parker Student Center is located at 1516 Maple St, Golden, CO 80401)
  • Event time: March 9, 2024 from 9:30 am- 12:30 pm
  • Check in runs from 9:30-10:10 am 
  • Light breakfast will be provided, please bring water
  • Check Out: Check out will begin at 12:30 pm. Participants will be released by group. Please wait in the lobby (where you checked in) to check out with participant
  • Parents/guardians are not allowed to stay at the event. Some fun things to do in downtown Golde during the event include: walking along clear creek, hiking south table, visiting the Geology Museum on Mines campus (1310 Maple St, Golden, CO 80401), or visiting one of the many coffee shops

 

Help us spread the word for Girls are SMART (Studious, Mighty, Amazing, Resilient, and Talented) conference hosted by the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) collegiate section at Colorado School of Mines! This event involves gathering girls in grades 1st – 5th on the Mines campus to do science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) activities and explore what it means to be an engineer and scientist. Each interactive activity will present an opportunity to create a simple and unique art project that demonstrates STEM concepts. A variety of topics will be covered that relate many of the disciplines studied at Mines!

At Girls are SMART, students will:

● Learn about the scientific process and design processes

● Build problem-solving and communication skills

● Engage with various fields of STEM

Time: 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM

Location: Ben H. Parker Student Center Ballrooms

Registration will open on January 23rd and will remain open until March 7th or until 100 spots have been filled.

Spots at this event are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
