IHSA Show Cost Breakdown
Costs Covered by the Riders
Mines Equestrian Team will cover some expenses, but each rider will still have to cover some costs to be able to show.
Student Membership
$45/rider/year
- Our team currently only does English shows, so our riders can register for a single discipline (Hunter Seat Equitation) for $45.
Class Entry Fees
$50/rider/class
- Depending on a rider’s class level, they can compete in a maximum of two classes (one flat and one over fences) per day
Travel Costs
$Variable/rider/day
- The team will have to travel to horse shows. They are typically a 1-2 hour drive away
- We will be able to carpool to and from shows and carpool drivers may request gas money
Show Attire
$Variable/rider
- Riders are required to wear proper show attire while competing
- Attire may be purchased new or used for cheaper at consignment stores
Costs Covered by Mines Equestrian Team Funding
These are the costs that Mines Equestrian Team will cover using club funds (as long as funds last).
College Membership
$300/year
- The IHSA college membership fee for Colorado School of Mines paid for at the start of the season by the club
Coaching Fees*
$75/rider/day
- Shows are typically two days long and our trainers coach us each day
