RAistlynn Baros

Welcome, all!

My name is Raistlynn Baros, and I have the honor of serving as this year’s SWE president. As a former participant in the outreach event Mines does to encourage young girls to pursue STEM, I am excited for the chance to help our section in every way I can for the next academic year. While that means our Outreach branch does a special place for me, I am constantly impressed by the work of all our officers and look forward to seeing all they accomplish.

I’m a junior in mechanical engineering here at Mines, and am focusing on aerospace engineering. Around campus, I’m also involved with our American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) section as DI&A Co-Chair. Other organizations I am a member of are Women of Aeronautics and Astronautics (WoAA), the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and the Vanguard Scholars Program. In previous years, I was also a part of the Mines Drumline, but unfortunately scheduling conflicts have kept me from returning.

In my free time, I’m still involved with music as an instructor for a high school marching band, and I try to regularly get to the punk rock concerts nearby. In previous years, I did two seasons with the Battalion Drum and Bugle Corps and one with Rise Percussion. I’m also an avid sci-fi and fantasy fan, and am in the process of writing a D&D campaign. A Colorado local, the Rocky Mountains also hold a place near to my heart, and I enjoy skiing, bouldering, hiking, and camping every chance I can.

You can see more about this all in my Photographic About-Me.
