The Spectrum Spark is Mines’ first LGBTQ+ literary journal, compiling queer and ally art, poetry, literature, and photography that voices our pain, frustration, hope, joy, and success. Currently, it publishes online issues twice a semester, as well as a print collection of both online issues once a semester. Issue 0, which establishes the tone and content that we’d like to see, should be a helpful guide for anyone interested in submitting their poems, articles, short stories, drawings, photographs, and whatever else they’d like to send our way. You can find it at https://orgs.mines.edu/ostem/about-the-spectrum-spark/, and we’ll be handing out physical copies throughout the semester. And, while you’re on the oSTEM website, take a look at https://orgs.mines.edu/ostem/submission-guidelines/ if you’d like to learn about the submission guidelines for Version 1. The link has a pretty comprehensive breakdown of the formats for the various forms of media we accept, as well as things like using anonymous names, including your identities, and what warrants trigger warnings. Please send any and all submissions to spectrumsparkmines@gmail.com!
