The International Collegiate Mine Rescue Competition

The Mine Emergency Response Demonstration is an international competition held every year between our campus in Golden, Colorado, and the Edgar Experimental Mine in Idaho Springs, Colorado.  

This is a multi-day event with medical, benching, tech, and underground competition alongside some extra activities like fire training, a ropes exercise, and a chance to run our underground maze. 

 The MERD usually coincides with the SME conference held in Denver, and we have hosted teams from across the United States, Germany, and Canada.
