The Manufacturing team is responsible for both additive and subtractive manufacturing, including welding, waterjetting, plasma cutting, and laser cutting. The primary focus is on production, making the team essential to the racecar’s development. Since multiple subsystems are designed from scratch each year, Manufacturing plays a critical role in machining the necessary components. The team is composed of skilled members who are proficient in programming and operating CNC machines, running waterjets, machining on manual lathes and mills, and welding. The biggest challenges faced include maintaining strict tolerances and meeting demanding timelines. With a completely new car built annually, every part must be machined from scratch, and the precision required is exceptionally high to ensure all components fit together seamlessly.
